Natural Childbirth Video of Twins

Each natural childbirth video of twins proves that multiple can also be born safely and naturally.  All too often, mothers are led to believe that with a twin pregnancy, they must have an automatic cesarean section.  However, this is not necessarily the case.  The first video is a montage that challenges common misperceptions about vaginal birth and multiples, including breech babies, prior c-sections, complications such as intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTS), preemies, and even post-dates!  There are over 20 mothers of twins and triplets featured that all had safe, natural births, both at home and in the hospital.  (This video was als created by Christy, the mother featured in the last video on the page.)

The next selection is a waterbirth video in a clear tub.   Observe how the baby emerges calm and relaxed into the water.  Do not be alarmed that the baby is not quickly removed from the water.  Remember, a baby does not need to breathe via its lungs until the umbilical cord has been cut.  The baby will not take a first breath until after this has happened.   Delayed cord clamping is beneficial for many reasons, one of which is that the newborn circulation system changes after birth.  A valve in the heart closes so the baby is using its own circulation system instead of relying on the umbilical cord.  By delaying clamping, the baby is also able to take its first breath with lungs that are completely oxygenated, which means that the first breath will not be painful.  When this is allowed to happen, the baby may not even cry right after birth or will merely cry once and then be calm.

The final video details a family's struggle for a vaginal birth after cesarean section (VBAC).  Despite all the evidence that VBAC is a safe option, many doctors and hospitals refuse this option to women for financial or scheduling reasons, all the while spreading misinformation on its safety and touting repeat c-section as the only "safe" option.  This couldn't be further from the truth.  For them c-section is the easy option - it's convenient for them and requires less personnel on staff.

The video starts with a narrative by the mother detailing her search for a provider supportive of VBAC.  Her search is fruitless, so she turns instead to midwives but is again devoid of choices since laws in her state ban direct-entry midwives from attending VBAC births.  Ultimately, she finds a midwife in another state to attend her.  Then, at 16 weeks, she finds that she is carrying twins.

You'll have to watch the video to see how it ends;-)

This family's natural childbirth video is a true testimony to the lack of evidence-based childbirth practices in this country.  Despite the research on VBAC safety, this family was forced to temporarily relocate to another state for evidence-based care.
