Free Water Birth Video Clips

A childbirth or water birth video is a wonderful way to permanently capture its memory. If you have the opportunity to record, do it! My only regret about both my births was that we were not allowed to videotape. That's one of the little-considered negative aspects of a hospital birth. The restrictions on video stem from malpractice liability. If you were to catch a medical mistake on tape, you could own the hospital.

A childbirth video can serve as a life-long reminder of that birth. It can be graphic or "G" rated, whatever you choose. As they grow, your children will love to hear the stories of how they were born, and a video lets them see it as well. They can see the love you had for them, even before they were born, there on the screen. If that isn't a powerful message, I don't know what is.

Below is a sampling of videos to show you the beauty of natural childbirth. If the video is graphic in nature, a caption will appear before it.

NOTE:  Depending on what browser you use, you may need to click the "play" button twice to make each waterbirth video load properly. "Loading" should appear on the video.  If not, click the "play" button again.  Clips are best viewed using the free Firefox browser.

The first free waterbirth video is a clip from the award-winning video, WATER BABY. It truly captures the essence of waterbirth and the joy of bringing a child into the world, for both mother and family.

The full, hour-long film shows details of four waterbirths in home, hospital and birth center settings.  See http://www.waterbirthinfo.com/materials.html for more information.

The second free waterbirth video is a concise example of a waterbirth-no frills, just baby.

This third clip is designed as a slide show set to music. It shows just how creative you can be in commemorating the experience:

A water birth video or childbirth video is always a good idea. While some settings will not allow videotaping during the actual birth, you may be able to tape until that point and certainly afterward. Sometimes your nursing staff or midwife might take a hand in taping your first family moments!
